What is SmartyPig?
SmartyPig is a unique savings program designed to make saving social, goal-oriented and fun. .
More than just an online savings account, SmartyPig uses the power of social networking and retailer value boosts to help people reach their savings goals faster. .
Goals are set up front and funded with a regular monthly contribution from an existing transaction or savings account, with a competitive interest rate that’s calculated daily and paid quarterly. .
Customers can make additional one-off contributions and also receive contributions from friends and family members. Once the savings goal is reached, customers can stretch their dollars further by receiving their savings plus a value boost on a gift card from participating retailers.

Are my funds safe?
Yes.
A SmartyPig account is a deposit product offered by ANZ, one of Australia’s strongest and most trusted banks, which means your funds are secure.
In terms of online security, SmartyPig.com.au is tested and certified daily to pass the McAfee® SECURE Security Scan. McAfee® is the world’s leading provider of website security services and the SECURE Security Scan checks SmartyPig.com.au every day for known vulnerabilities.
SmartyPig.com.au also uses the most trusted and secure option for Secure Socket Layer SSL - VeriSign® True 128-bit Extended Validation SSL.
The SmartyPig application undergoes regular security audits and risk acceptance testing.

How much does it cost to open an account?
Nothing. It’s free.
Opening a SmartyPig account is free. Making contributions to your account from a linked transaction account / funding source is free too.
If you use a Credit Card to contribute to a SmartyPig goal, there is a charge of 1.5% of the transaction.

Are there any hidden fees?
Opening, funding and redeeming a goal with SmartyPig can be absolutely free.
We do charge fees for any paper document requests, post requests or transactions performed with a credit card. SmartyPig customers can also make contributions to other users’ goals or buy SmartyPig gift cards at no cost, if they use the transaction account linked to their SmartyPig account. If they use a credit card, they will incur a 1.5% surcharge. They may also incur cash advance fees from their credit provider.

What are the minimum and maximum savings goal limits?
The minimum savings goal is $250. The maximum savings goal is $100,000.

What are the minimum and maximum deposit limits?
There is a minimum deposit of $10 to start a savings goal. The maximum deposit limit within a 24-hour period is $10,000, including deposits to your own account and contributions to other SmartyPig accounts.

How is interest paid?
Interest on your account balance is calculated daily and paid into your account every 3 months.

When does interest begin to accrue?
Interest begins to accrue once the funds have been received into your SmartyPig account and cleared. For your security, funds may take up to 3 business banking days to clear.

Can my child or a minor under my care have a SmartyPig account?
Anyone 16 and over who is an Australian resident or a foreign citizen living in Australia can have their own SmartyPig account.
For children (under 16 years old), a parent or legal guardian can open and manage an account on their behalf, and invite the child to have view-only access.

What is a “public” savings goal?
When you make your savings goal “public” – let your family and friends know about it – it’s easier to stay motivated. That’s because the people around you can see your progress, make contributions if they would like to, and keep you focused on your goal.
Alternatively, if you would prefer to keep your savings goals private, that’s fine too.

What can my friends and family members see if my goal is public?
No banking information is visible to anyone other than you. If you make your goal(s) public your friends and family members will be able to see what your goal is and, if you choose, how much you’ve saved so far and how far along you are in percentage terms.

How do friends and family find my goal if I choose to make it public?
There are a few options here:
- When you set up your public savings goal, you can invite as many people as you want via e-mail to view your savings goal
- You can add a SmartyPig widget to your social networking page like Facebook and MySpace and track your progress
- Anyone can search for you by entering your unique e-mail address into the SmartyPig Friends’ Goals tab.

Will my monthly deposit to my goal be reduced automatically if friends and family make contributions to my goal?
No. we will never automatically adjust your monthly automatic contribution.
If you edit your goal, SmartyPig will suggest a new monthly contribution that reflects any extra contributions you may have received from friends and family. You will then have to click ‘save’ for it to actually change the amount of your monthly deposit.

How long does it take for my funds to clear into my SmartyPig account?
Credit card transactions take one business banking day to clear. Direct debits may take up to three business banking days to clear.
Contributions will not be posted to your goal until the funds have cleared.

17.
Do I have the option to stop a recurring monthly contribution?
Yes, at any time you can decide to stop your goal, or if the current balance of your goal is above the $250 minimum, you can reduce your goal amount to below your current balance for that goal, causing monthly contributions to stop until you increase your goal amount again. Otherwise, once an automatic recurring contribution from a linked transaction or savings account has been set up, it will continue until you meet your goal.

What if I need my money in my SmartyPig savings goal before I reach my goal?
SmartyPig savings goals may be closed at any time without penalty. You will have the option of transferring your current savings plus interest back to your existing linked bank account (your funding source) or, as long as you've had your funding source linked to your SmartyPig account for at least 90 days, you can receive your funds as a gift card from a retailer.
Either way, redeeming your savings is free of charge.

What if I want to change my goal?
You can change your goal at any time before you redeem it.

What if I have insufficient funds or have closed my linked bank account when a recurring monthly contribution is set to occur?
We will attempt to withdraw the funds once only in a month. If a withdrawal is unsuccessful, we will attempt to make a withdrawal on the following month on the day specified by you. For security reasons, we may lock your SmartyPig Account. If this occurs, you will need to contact customer service to resolve the issue on 1800 267 808, available every day of the week from 8am to 6pm.

What if I don’t have a specific savings goal but I know how much I want to save?
No problem, just choose the “Miscellaneous” category when you’re labelling your account. You can always change the label, or the amount you want to save, at any time before the account is redeemed.

I forgot my username and/or password ... what now?
To retrieve your username, click the ‘Forgot username?’ link underneath the sign-in box on the Smartypig.com.au homepage and follow the instructions.
To retrieve your password, just log in to your account and answer some security questions.
Alternatively, feel free to contact customer support on 1800 267 808 Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm.

How do I close my goal?
To close your goal, simply log in to your account and choose ‘Stop Goal’. You will then have the option of receiving your current savings plus interest as a gift card from one of our retail partners, or you can transfer your funds back into your existing transaction or savings account.
For security purposes to receive your funds via a gift card from one of our retail partners, your goal must have been active for at least 90 days. Funds can be transferred back to your Nominated Linked Account (your Funding Source) at any time.

How can I put my funds back into my linked bank account (Funding Source)?
We offer a funds transfer redemption option so you can place your funds back into your Nominated Linked Account when you are ready to close your goal. Just simply select the Funds Transfer option when you stop your goal.

What happens when I reach my goal?
Once you have met your savings goal, your automatic monthly contribution will stop but your funds will continue to earn interest until you manually close your goal and redeem your funds.

How do I close my account/profile?
To close one of your accounts or your profile, you will need to stop and close any existing savings goals, then contact us on 1800 267 808 Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm and we’ll do the rest.

Why can’t I close my goal?
If you have a pending transaction, you will not be able to edit or close your goal until it is finalised. To view your pending transactions, click on ‘Transaction History’.

Can I transfer my funds back to my bank, or get my money by cheque?
You can transfer your funds back to your linked transaction or savings account at any time. The funds will clear to your bank account in 5-7 business days.
The option to receive your funds by cheque is not available.

How long does it take for my gift card to arrive?
If you choose to redeem your funds in the form of a retail gift card with a value boost, it will arrive via registered Mail within 7-10 business days. Please note, you will need to sign to receive your retail gift card.

What if I am saving for something that cannot be purchased with a retail gift card?
No problem – when you’re ready to close your goal, just choose to redeem your savings plus interest in the form of a Funds Transfer back to your linked transaction or savings account.

Can I pay cash for a Retailer Gift Card?
No. Retailer Gift Cards are only available to customers who reach savings goals, and can only be redeemed from an existing SmartyPig account.

Can I exchange my Retailer Gift Card for cash?
No. Retailer gift cards can only be used at the issuing retailer and cannot be exchanged for cash.

How do I reduce the value of the monthly contribution?
The monthly contribution is calculated by dividing your goal value by the number of monthly withdrawals until your goal end date. To reduce the monthly contribution, you can either: Increase the length of time to your goal end date, or; Reduce your goal amount.

• a person who is enrolled on the roll of the Supreme Court of a State or Territory, or the High Court of Australia, as a legal practitioner (however described);
• a judge of a court;
• a magistrate;
• a chief executive officer of a Commonwealth court;
• a registrar or deputy registrar of a court;
• a Justice of the Peace;
• a notary public (for the purposes of the Statutory Declaration Regulations 1993);
• a police officer;
• an agent of the Australian Postal Corporation who is in charge of an office supplying postal services to the public;
• a permanent employee of the Australian Postal Corporation with 2 or more years of continuous service who is employed in an office supplying postal services to the public;
• an Australian consular officer or an Australian diplomatic officer (within the meaning of the Consular Fees Act 1955);
• an officer with 2 or more continuous years of service with one or more financial institutions (for the purposes of the Statutory Declaration Regulations 1993);
• a finance company officer with 2 or more continuous years of service with one or more finance companies (for the purposes of the Statutory Declaration Regulations 1993);
• an officer with, or authorised representative of, a holder of an Australian financial services licence, having 2 or more continuous years of service with one or more licensees;
